Raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society, we kicked off our Cupcake Day fund raising with a giant, handmade cupcake.

Cupcake Day 2017 - Riccall Care

The number one cause of death in the England and Wales, dementia doesn’t discriminate and currently there’s no cure. In 2016, Cupcake Day raised £330,000 to help fight dementia; more than enough to fund 11 PhD researchers for a year, giving them the opportunity to undertake vital, potentially lifesaving work. This year they hope to raise even more.

Based at their HQ on Escrick Business Park, the Riccall Care team are hosting their event from 1pm to 4pm. They have invited visitors from local residential homes, carers, and local business to join them to take part and pin a cherry on a cupcake and of course, amongst other tasty treats on offer, to raffle the giant chocolate cupcake baked by home care worker Jenny Kent.

Director Helen Conroy said: “We look after many people who have been diagnosed with dementia to live independently at home for as long as they wish. Dementia care is at the heart of much of the care we provide and we’ll be delighted to welcome anyone who would like to support this wonderful cause with us.”
