At our regular monthly Community Care Café, we welcome the children from nearby Young Discoverers Nursery to sing Christmas carols for our café guests.
All decked out with festive hats and jumpers, the Young Discoverers created a wonderful atmosphere of festive fun, singing carols for the café guests and their carers. A joint initiative by Riccall Care Director Helen Conroy, Training Team Leader Deb Smith and Nursery Manager Kathy Wainwright, the nursery team said: “The children absolutely loved it!”
Helen Conroy commented: “We have been looking forward to the Christmas event. Our guests had so much pleasure singing with the children and the children were wonderful. Growing up in the residential care home run by my parents and grandparents, I remember how much I enjoyed being with the residents and how much fun we all had together. We hope there will be more joint activities like this.”
Open to all, the Care Café is held every first Thursday of the month and offers free hot drinks, snacks and activities for anyone who lives supported in their own homes, including those with dementia and their carers. Held at Riccall Care’s training suite on the Escrick Business Park, the café offers regular friendly get-togethers with specialist advice on-hand from Riccall Care’s award-winning dementia and home care team.
The joint Care Café and nursery event was a huge success and plans are being laid for another visit at Easter.
